Conferral Judging

WSDC: Panel discussion before independent final ballots. BP deliberation aims at a consensus ranking; UADC 2025 requires independent decisions without consultation before ballot submission.

• Process: Judges share their reasoning on core clashes, clarify differences in evaluation, and discuss their marking ranges.
• Purpose: Allows judges to test their reasoning against others and expose blind spots. Judges may hold their original call, change their margins, or completely change their decision (win/loss) based on the discussion before filling out their independent ballot.
• BP: judges should not "trade" results to get their own views partly represented; a judge who is not persuaded should stand by their view (WUDC 2027 Manual, section 3.3).
