StanceA stance refers to the general position that a team is taking in the debate.
Status QuoThe current state of affairs in the world before any proposed policy is implemented.
CharacterisationCharacterisation refers to grounding the debate by explaining what it looks like in the real world.
FramingFraming occurs when a team explains why certain issues, actors, or contexts are more or less relevant than others to how a debate or clash is evaluated.

The policies and practices intended to make debate inclusive and safe, including protections against discrimination and harassment. Report violations to the tournament's Equity team. Judges assess effects on persuasiveness and fairness under the applicable manual; a breach does not itself justify an automatic loss or zero speaker marks (WUDC 2027 Manual, section 2.13; UADC 2025 Handbook, section 5). Judges must not discredit arguments because of the accent or style in which they were delivered (WUDC 2027 Manual, section 2.3).
